Parc national du Banco : quand notre la grande muraille de Chine s’installe à Abidjan
Workers construct a protective fence for the Banco National Park in Abidjan on March 10, 2022. In the heart of Abidjan, the Banco National Park is protecting itself against unbridled urbanization that is constantly encroaching on the limits of the « green lung » of the Ivorian economic capital. A long wall is being constructed to surround this park which borders the most popular neighbourhoods of the country’s largest metropolis. So the Ivorian Office of Parks and Reserves (OIPR), which manages the country’s protected fauna and flora, undertook the construction of this wall, whose work is financed by Japan and the Ivorian government.
